Livingston Small Rapper insists that 'Varta Music Clan' Belongs to him and he owns the music label. "My own brand coz it belongs to me." Jege Jege posted a few minutes after VMC published a copy of contract contamination letter on their Facebook page.
The publications dated August 24, 2025, revealed that the five-year contract signed in 2023 had been cut short before its expected expiry in 2028. Stating that all projects produced under VMC remain its property, though Small Rapper is allowed to use them without marketing them as solely his.
"All the projects done under VMC remains property of the label... however we have given freedom to use the projects but do not market the projects on his personal platforms as the sole owner." The publication reads in parts.
The dispute emerged a day after Small Rapper released a new song dubbed, "Akwetu Makwee", on a personal YouTube channel under his name (LivingstonSmallRapper) and re-uploaded earlier works previously shared on the VMC channel, drawing concerns about the moves.
The publication states that the termination was meant to provide clarity for other artists and stakeholders with unfinished projects and business. He cited Charry Cool as one of the affected artists.
It adds that the decision also disrupted plans for a maiden concert that fans had been anticipating.
"We do regret the decision because it'd not what we and dear fans expected it came at a time you all have been asking for a maiden concert which we had promised..." reads in part.
The fallout has surprised many followers of Alur music, raising questions about the cause of the sudden split.
Music pundit Bdong Brian urged artists to remain loyal and respectful in the music business, stating that, "our artists have to understand that, this is business, and business calls for loyalty and respect." He reacted during a whatsapp conversation.
