Video: How Gaaga Bus Travelling From Kampala To Koboko Caught Fire At Nyaravur

Gaaga bus registration UBB 991Y heading to Koboko from Kampala caught fire and got burnt to ashes last evening 4th August 2019 at a place called Mbaro Oryang East village of Nyaravur sub county in Nebbi district at around 4:30 pm.

The bus over 60 people on board and was heading for its final destination Koboko before this incident.

From sources, the cause of the fire has been attributed to flat tyre.

One of the passengers says,the bus hit a hump and later they heard a loud noise.

'We heard a loud noise and we who were sitting in front knew that there was trouble after the driver ran out after the humps. I saw black smoke and seconds later there was fire. We alerted those behind and that’s how we all escaped." Emmy Mulindwaand

Other people say it was a flat tyre which sparked the fire from the friction caused by the rim onto the termarc.

Rogers Amanya, the OC Traffic Nebbi police station said all the passengers aboard escaped unhurt but the bus was completely burnt.

“We had 65 passengers on board but no one was hurt. They managed to all escape unhurt. We are currently looking for the driver a one Kasim Kayimbi who disappeared after realizing that things had gone wrong," added Amanya.

Gaaga Bus comapany had newly acquired this bus and it was among their new buses introduced on Kampala-Koboko route.
